Information about Competition  for Teachers and Parents

About the competition

We appreciate and thank you for your interest in the IQ Olympics. The IQ Olympics is another way of recognizing talent, developing it, and raising interest in the development of individual pupil´s talent.

The competition is organized in the long run by MENSA Slovakia, a non-profit organization associating over-intelligent people. One of the goals and missions of Mensa Slovakia is also the care and development of intellectual gifting of children.

The IQ Olympics provides a fun way of doing things that are often left out of school curriculum. Because the competition is designed so that children can work in a group of three, we try to create mutual relationships in this way, searching for a common solution, in which children can better express their individual abilities and skills.

All competition tasks are based on general principles and no special knowledge is required for their solution. With a little exaggeration, one can say that only "common sense" is needed for their solution. It is not a competition, but a competition that develops the ability of independent logical thinking.

Who is the competition for?

The competition is for pupil 2nd grade of primary schools of the eight-year grammar schools (first to fourth year).

Reward for schools

The school in which the majority of pupils are involved will be rewarded. At the same time, a school whose pupils are placed on the first three places receives the same prize as the contestant (iPad, iPod, board game)

The involvement of teachers is welcomed because they are certainly invaluable in organizing and controlling contestants. Teachers, unfortunately, can not compete or practice the assignment. We ask you to submit information about the competition to schools and teachers in your area. Teachers can register for the competition on the Teacher Entrance page / I want to register. Registrations from previous years of the competition will be retained. If you do not know the last year's password, then you can get the new one from the Teacher Entry page / I forgot my password. The new registered teacher is confirmed by the Administrator after registration. We check that you are really a teacher at your school, because most children or parents are most often registered there by mistake. Each registered teacher receives information about the IQ Olympics - start / end of student registration, school lap, and regional lap. Once you've approved, you can confirm your school pupils, and you can confirm other teachers from your school, and edit your contact information and your pupil's name, surname, and class. You can filter the pupils of your school by class, so you can see who is registered for. We will ask you to confirm all registered pupils from your school. Verifying the authenticity of pupils is one of many measures to reduce possible fraud of school lap.
For pupils who have submitted to Regional lap and are not confirmed, regional co-ordinators must verify the authenticity of the data. You will be very helpful if you confirm all of your pupils. You know them, it's easy for you.

Registration for the competition

Registration of contestants to the IQ Olympics 2016 will be started on March 1, 2016 and may be by March 31, 2016.

Anyone who wants to compete must sign up for their e-mail address during the march. Past registrations are not valid! The whole process is very simple and does not take more than a few minutes. The e-mail address will be sent to the contestant by their password and further information about the competition. Each participant therefore needs a valid and unique email; of course, he can also use parental email. More children can not sign in with the parental e-mail of one of their parents or their teacher. If needed, the email can easily set up on one of the known servers, www.zoznam.sk. Whoever prefers privacy can for the purposes of IQ Olympics, create an alias to his existing e-mail and receive messages at his usual address.

Competitors will be registered on the Enter the Competition page by clicking on I want to register and fill in my personal data - name, school, class, category, or optional address and phone.

Within a few minutes after signing up, the system generates a login password that will serve to enter the competitor's profile and, in particular, to sign up for the school lap that will be filled online. If you do not get the password, check the spam and trash and request a new password on the Enter the Competition / I forgot my password.

The course of the contest

The competition takes place in two levels - school and regional. Our goal is to make the competition available to as many children as possible and therefore the school laps is doing online - contestants can connect at school, at home, in libraries, wherever they go online. The school lap is scheduled to get its competitors in one lesson and spread over a sufficiently long period of time, which gives you great freedom in choosing the time you can complete.

The results of the participants and the teachers are found in their user profile up to the evaluation of the school laps. You will be notified by e-mail about the publication of the results. All teachers see how their pupils who have allowed the results to be shown by teachers have come to their notice. They will then see who has advanced to the regional level.

For more information on how to compete, visit the COMPETITION page.
