Dear Parents,
We greatly appreciate your interest in studying at our school. Below you will find a description of the enrollment process for your child at our school.
Enrollment of a Child in Year 1 for Compulsory School Attendance
A legal guardian is required to enroll a child for compulsory school attendance if the child reaches six years of age by August 31 (inclusive) of the relevant calendar year and has permanent residence in the Slovak Republic.
Child Enrollment Process
1. Submission of the Primary School Application
For the 2026/2027 school year, applications must be submitted electronically through the portal https://eprihlasky.iedu.sk/ starting from April 1, 2026.
We recommend submitting the application electronically before the enrollment appointment itself. You may already register in the ePrihlášky system today.
2. Enrollment Dates
Enrollment for Year 1 at our school will take place on April 9 and 10, 2026, at a pre-arranged time and with the child present in person.
3. Appointment Reservation
To reserve an enrollment appointment for your child, please contact Mgr. Lucia Hečková by email at lucia.heckova@besst.sk or by phone at +421 903 989 092.
4. Documents Required for Enrollment
To enroll a child in the first grade of primary school, please bring the legal guardian’s identity card and the child’s birth certificate (original or copy).
Important Information
According to the latest information from the Ministry of Education, when completing the electronic application, you express your school preferences by ranking the selected schools in order of priority.
The order of schools listed on the application affects which school your child may be admitted to if they meet the admission requirements of multiple schools. The first school on the list has the highest priority, while the last school has the lowest priority.
These preferences will be taken into account when decisions regarding your child’s admission are made. Therefore, it is important to carefully consider the order in which you list the schools on the application.
Transfer of a Student from Another Primary School in Slovakia or from Abroad
If you are interested in enrolling your child, who is already fulfilling compulsory school attendance, at Private Primary and Secondary School BESST, please contact Mgr. Lucia Hečková by email at lucia.heckova@besst.sk or by phone at +421 903 989 092.

Admission Criteria for Year 1 of Primary School
When admitting children to Year 1, the school proceeds in accordance with the Education Act, the principle of equal treatment in education, the principles of inclusive education, and the current guidelines of the Ministry of Education regarding enrolment in Year 1 and admission of children to primary education.
A. MAIN ADMISSION CRITERIA
1. Fulfilment of legal conditions for admission to primary education under the Education Act
A child who reaches the age of six by 31 August of the relevant calendar year (inclusive) and has permanent residence in the Slovak Republic shall be admitted to Year 1 of primary school. Exceptionally, a child younger than six years may also be admitted if the legal guardian submits the statements required by law from a counselling and prevention facility and a paediatrician.
2. Submission of a duly completed application in accordance with applicable regulations, including legally required attachments
A child is admitted on the basis of a properly submitted application for primary education using a form approved by the Ministry of Education, either electronically through the eApplication system or in paper form. In the case of a child with a health disadvantage or a gifted child, a diagnostic report issued by a counselling and prevention facility must also be attached, unless such information is available in the central register.
3. Child’s participation in the enrolment process at the time and in the manner announced by the school
Enrolment for primary education takes place within a the period set by law, the specific date, location, organisation, and procedure of enrolment are announced by the school principal in a publicly accessible place and on the school’s website. Participation in enrolment allows the school to become appropriately acquainted with the child and assess their school readiness to an extent appropriate for Year 1 entry.
4. Assessment of the child’s school readiness appropriate to Year 1 enrolment
School readiness represents a set of psychological, physical, and social abilities that enable the child to become a pupil of a primary school and complete its educational programme. During enrolment, the school appropriately monitors areas related to school preparedness and maturity, in line with the child’s age, the nature of the enrolment process, and the principles of equal treatment and inclusive education.
5. Admission of the child within the school’s capacity limits
Admission of children to primary education is limited by the school’s capacity. The school principal publishes, together with the admission conditions, the number of children that can be admitted. The school is obliged to register every application received and make a decision; however, capacity constitutes a legal limit for admission.
B. ADDITIONAL CRITERIA
6. Sibling of the child attending the school
In case of limited capacity, the school may consider as a supporting criterion that a sibling of the child is already a pupil at the school at the time of enrolment. This organisational criterion may be used when deciding between multiple applicants if demand exceeds the school’s capacity.
7. Order of school preference indicated in the application by the legal guardian
If the legal framework allows consideration of the order of school preferences stated in the application, the school proceeds in accordance with the data recorded in the eApplication system and the rules of the Ministry of Education. This criterion may only be applied within the limits of the current application and evaluation system.
8. Child’s aptitude for education in a bilingual school environment
In case of limited capacity, the school may appropriately consider the child’s ability to be educated in a bilingual environment (Slovak and English), in a manner appropriate to their age, school readiness, and the school’s educational programme. The assessment is conducted reasonably, without creating unjustified language barriers to entry into primary education.
9. Child’s ability to manage the daily school routine and organisation of instruction
The school may appropriately consider the child’s ability to cope with the daily school routine and participation in the educational process, taking into account the child’s age and school readiness. The assessment focuses on age-appropriate adaptation and self-regulation abilities, not on subjective evaluation of the child’s “endurance” or “performance.”
10. Child’s adaptive, socio-communication, and behavioural predispositions in the school environment
As the school builds its educational environment on values such as respect, cooperation, responsibility, safety, and appropriate communication, it may appropriately observe the child’s ability to adapt, communicate, and behave in a group and participate in shared activities. This assessment must be age-appropriate and must not be based on arbitrary or unverifiable judgments of the child or family.
C. SPECIAL PROVISION FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES, GIFTED CHILDREN, OR OTHER SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
11. Individual assessment of the school’s possibilities for children with disabilities, gifted children, or other special educational needs
In the case of a child with a disability, giftedness, or other special educational needs, the school individually assesses its ability to create appropriate conditions for education in accordance with the recommendations of counselling and prevention facilities, the child’s needs, and the school’s objective staffing, spatial, material, technical, and organisational capacities. The school also considers what support measures it can realistically provide to ensure that the child’s education is safe, meaningful, and in their best interest.
