GOOD DAY FROM DOBRÁ VODA

After a two-year break, we finally went to the first touristic event with students, parents, staff and friends of our school.

We have planned an easy hike to the ruins of Dobrá Voda Castle.

While the children climbed all corners of the castle, the adults lit a fire so that we could roast the goodies we had brought.

We experienced one beautiful sunny noon in nature, finally there was an opportunity and time to meet, talk, enjoy time together.

We look forward to the next meeting!

PRESCHOOLERS VISITED YEAR 1 PUPILS

Time flies and in a while our current preschoolers will become future first graders. Therefore we invited them for a while to experience the atmosphere during the first grade class. They could try counting on playful examples, they were given various tasks, which they solved together, they played a game where we laughed together. It was an experience for everyone and we are pleased to be able to show our preschoolers creatively and in a playful way that being a first grader is an honor.

OUR YEAR 7 PUPILS CAN PROVIDE FIRST AID

Our year 7 pupils completed a first aid course. During the course, they got not only acquainted with the basic theory of providing first aid in various critical situations, but they also had the opportunity to try these tasks in practice. They learned to help a child and an adult who is suffocating, not breathing, has a severe allergic reaction, broke his arm or leg. We also thank the lecturer for sharing her own experience from many years of work in the rescue service in Slovakia and abroad.

DETECTIVE CHEMISTS

Our school actively participated in the Researchers' Night 2021 program again this school year.

Thanks to the set of tools we received in the Science Courier package, students were able to play as detective chemists, experiment and test on their own that the work of researchers is extremely interesting. Our detectives took and compared fingerprints and examined the smoker's and non-smoker's saliva.

Note ed .: Photos were taken at a time when face masks were not mandatory.

TITLE OF THE BEST SCHOOL IN TRNAVA REGION WAS RECEIVED BY THE SCHOOL BESST AGAIN

Every year, INEKO organization publishes the rankings of the best schools in Slovakia, and once again we managed to obtain the title of the best school in Trnava Region for the year 2020/2021.

We are very happy with the title and we will continue to work on interesting projects, innovative teaching methods and on improving the quality of education in the next school years.

In terms of number of students, we are included among small schools, and therefore in order to display our ranking, it is necessary to click on the criterion "SHOW EVALUATION FOR SMALL SCHOOLS".

WE LEARN TO CODE

During the week of 6th-12th December pupils and teachers around the world celebrate the Computer Science Week. We also took part in it through an activity Hour of Code, during which we spent one hour coding. Year 1 pupils were coding with an app called Code Monkey as part of their Lego Engineering classes. They learned simple sequencing and some even tried out some loops. They all enjoyed this hour and can't wait to get back to coding with their Lego robots!

Older pupils were working on a more advanced learning sequence that they will be able to use and continue with in the future.

You can find more photos in our gallery.

WE GAVE JOY

This year's Christmas will once again be full of love, gratitude and smiles. Our school has traditionally joined the beautiful challenge "How much love fits in a shoe box". Everyone- kindergarten, primary and secondary school and high school, worked together for this beautiful idea.

With this selfless deed, we will give joy under the Christmas tree to several seniors in the retirement homes.

Thanks to everyone who did not hesitate to participate and give presents to others. 👏❤️

ST. NICHOLAS ARRIVED TO OUR SCHOOL

"'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there."

Our children also prepared some English poems and songs for St. Nicholas, angel and devil, who arrived to our school on Monday and for their nice welcome our pupils were gifted with sweet treats.

Encyclopedias

Encyclopedias are educational books full of interesting information. As part of the repeating of the curriculum from the previous school year, Year 6 pupils decided to create their own encyclopedias in which they find exactly what interests them. :) So we set a topic, divided the subtasks and set to work in our beautiful library. Students searched for information, created their own passwords, and also illustrated their own encyclopedias. They created posters full of interesting facts on the topic of EARTH, DINOSAURS and ANIMALS.

Learning Trnava festival

Learning through experiences - this is one of the ways we want to educate pupils, and that is why we visited the first Learning Trnava festival. Pupils had the opportunity to see and try out various experiments in chemistry and physics, test their level of English and other foreign languages, check the quality of their eyesight, or see the car of the future. We participated in workshops, creative workshops or competitions and left with a lot of experiences and souvenirs. We are already looking forward to the next year of this event.

WE ARE A DIGITAL GENERATION

Digititalization is a part of today's society, which is why we are educating our students to acquire the skills needed for the 21st century. One of the effective ways to playfully and interactively deepen their programming skills are MICRO:BITS - microcomputers, the use of which is also suitable for the Primary school.

Our Year 4 pupils who are working hard on the "pedometer" project prove it. They help each other and strive for a successful result. Year 5 pupils are focused on a project in which they find out how the current number of people in a room can be calculated using a micro:bit.

Year 6-8 pupils are fully starting with the project this December.

We have many challenges ahead of us and a lot of motivation!

These activities were supported by the Telekom Endowment Fund at the Pontis Foundation.

The culture of reading as the DNA of our school

In order to motivate pupils, increase their interest in reading and make interesting books more accessible to them, a unique SELF-SERVICE LIBRARY was created in our school.

We are glad that more than half of our pupils read regularly, but with the new concept of the library we want to increase the number of readers and continue to develop a culture of reading and reading literacy.

The Slovak section of our library has grown by 350 new titles of MODERN CHILDREN'S LITERATURE and more titles will be added to the English section soon.

The premises of our library are not only used as a reading room during breaks and after school, but also as an inspiring space during the teaching process.

Mental Health Day

In order to be healthy we eat fruits and vegetables, we go to nature, we exercise,. . . .

But what about our soul, it needs good care too. Sometimes we don't feel well, but we're not sick. We talked to the pupils that it is okay if we sometimes feel different and we can't describe it. It is important not to keep it to yourself and to have someone around whom we can trust.

Pupils have developed their own tips on how to promote mental health and what to do when they feel sad. We tried something on our own skin and it's proven - laughter is contagious and it's a cure for everything.

WE VISITED THE TRAFFIC PLAYGROUND

The main reason for our visit was to improve traffic education and acquire theoretical knowledge in the field of transport, signs and regulations of road traffic. Biking on a road with traffic signs has become a popular activity.

We believe that we have added another life value to the children: to learn, verify and improve their acquired knowledge directly on the real model situations created on the traffic playground.

As a bonus, children received a driver's license after completing the course.

World School Milk Day

On International Milk Day, we remembered what vitamins and benefits we have from it. It can be consumed in various forms. It doesn't have to be just milk, but also cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, bryndza or cream. It's up to you which dairy product you choose. 🧀

Of course, there are those among us who cannot consume milk due to lactose. But there is also an alternative for them.🙂
