useful trade pays dividends

This year we have chosen “useful trade pays dividends” with the class 5.A. We are currently writing the lyrics of the song and our author's music on our Music and Art lessons. We are working on costumes and backdrops as well. Everybody supports us and we are glad for it. It is admirable that our children are so excited about it and decided to continue in this project - SuperTrieda (for the fifth year)  on the second stage too... the power of collective work, sense of meaningfulness , recognition and especially power of friendship are enriching

REGIONAL LEVEL EURO-PROJECT SUPERCLASS

"Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
– Roald Dahl -

On Wednesday, 7 June 2017, we took part with class 4.A of the regional lap of the European Superclass project in Trenčín.

As you know, SZŠ BESST is the Model school of the Superclass project in Slovakia. Even this year, we were able to choose from two of the two themes in which the quarterbacks created the author's musical-dramatic work.

The themes for musical and drama performances for year 2016/2017 were: What would a better world look like?, what is a social theme supporting fantasy and forming your own opinion and Thinking is movement, which is a theme that promotes creative thinking, sports, healthy lifestyle, and is also the slogan of school year. 2016/17 settled by the Minister of Education.

Our 4th graders chose the theme "Thinking is Movement" and with this performance they got 1st place in the Region level and moved on to the national finals, which will be held on 22.6.2017 in Bratislava.

Keep them all in!

The Thematic Day of the 2017 Superclass in BESST

Superclass is a European project that was established in 2009 in Slovakia and is currently one of the top 10 European-wide school projects.

The BESST School, as a MODEL SCHOOL of SUPERCLASS for the Trnava region, organized a SEMI-SUPERCLASS THEMATIC DAY on 30 January 2017. Its aim was to use the musical-dramatic and visual elements used in the Superclass project in the learning process to make the general public aware that non-traditional teaching with artistic and musical-dramatic elements has an irreplaceable place in schools.

This day is the only one of its kind in Slovakia, and every year, starting in 2013, it runs in Trnava on the ground of the SZŠ BESST and is a demonstration of untraditional teaching while preserving the performance and content standards of individual subjects.

Such teaching makes from any subject-subject extraordinary, in which the children learn to help, while developing a great deal of cognitive processes.

On Slovak lessons or English lessons, the children express the atmosphere of stories by moving, reading stories that give space to the motifs of drama and work literary, artistic, with orphan instruments, xylophones, metal tapes, tubes and flutes. On Math classes pupils feel the rhythm with the help of numbers, interconnecting the sound and the light with the movement of motion, and concentrating on the common work. They develop vocabulary and ability to express feelings. Through mathematical exercises and pantomime geometric shapes, they focus their attention on space orientation, perception of numbers, and individual numerical operations.

The thematic day of Superclass 2017 was the 4th year and again it was an extraordinary day and a very exciting day!

SuperClass – regional round

On Tuesday 8th of June class 3.A with Miss Adel in charge represented us in the regional round of the European SuperClass project in Trenčín. As you already know, our school is one of the two model schools of this project in Slovakia. Same as in the last years, two topics were available for students to choose from in September 2016 in order to create an author´s musical-dramatical performance.

First Aid, first of those two themes, is enabling children to learn thoroughly the first aid principles in saving lives of people, and has been called in partnership with professional rescuers team from the Falck Academy. Slovakia leads Europe was the second topic, and the main purpose of it is pointing children to the positive thinking about their own country and its place in EuropeBoth themes have been called in partnership with the EC Representation in SR, at the opportunity of the Slovak Presidency in the EU Council in the 2nd half of 2016.

First aid was the topic chosen by our 3.A students who have created the script about their ideas on it and, consequently, have prepared their own performance with author´s music and lyrics.

A 15 minutes long performance titled RESCUE IN THE LAND OF FANTASY or WORLD OF TOYS have procured a victory for us in Trenčín by which we are moving forward to the national round of the SuperClass project taking part on 16th of June in Bratislava.

SUPERCLASS Day at BESST

SUPERCLASS is a “Good Practice Model of European Educational Network”  for teaching Arts and English. The project, founded in 2009 in Slovakia, is one of the 10 best school projects in Europe.

BESST, model SUPERCLASS school for Trnava region, hosted SUPERCLASS Day at BESST on 25th January 2016. The aim of the event was to show how music, art and drama can be all used in any lesson of lower primary pupils (Years 1-4) while promoting cooperation and cognitive skills.

In Slovak or English lessons, the children express the atmosphere of stories and animate the reactions. They read the stories that give space to the motifs and the children work literally, artfully, with orphan instruments, xylophones, metallophones, tubes and flutes. Mathematicians perceive the rhythm in the form of numbers, interconnecting the sound and the light with the change of motion, and concentrating on the common work. They develop vocabulary and ability to express feelings. Through mathematical exercises and pantomime geometric shapes, they focus their attention on space orientation, perception of numbers, and individual numerical operations.

SuperClass Days at BESST

Our school is a model SuperClass schoolfor Trnava region,  with PaedDr. Adela Melišeková Dojčanová in charge.  The school had promised to host workshops for colleagues and hosted “SuperClass Days” at BESST on the last January days (29th January 2015, 20th January 2015). I The main aim of the event was to show how music and drama used in SuperClass Project can be used in regular lessons at primary school. This way, any lesson becomes more special and accessible to pupils, yet it still helps to develop their cognitive skills.

Pupils use movement, Orff instruments, whistles and painting to create a creativity inducing environment; and to mimic human reactions.  In Slovak lessons they read stories they later dramatize, and use them as inspiration for creative outlets. In Maths, Chemistry, and Physics lessons they perceive rhythm trough numbers, they combine sound, light and movement to create one unique piece of art.  This way they develop their vocabulary, social skills, ability to express their emotions, spatial orientation.

On this day our pupils had created projects and materials that were approved by the Faculty of Education in Trnava and are used as motivational educational material for all schools in Slovakia.

SuperClass national round, Bratislava

On 19th June 2014 our school took part in national round of SuperClass in Bratislava. Competitors presented their musical-dramatic performance full of ideas of friendship, love, compassion, tolerance and ability to help.

Jury members Prof. Belo Felix, PhD, doc. PhDr. Albín Škoviera, PhD,  Mgr. Juraj Benčík – an actor, Mgr. Lucia Weinbergerová – member of Bratislava city council, PhDr. Katarína Burgrová, PhD – UNIPO  were judging 36 classes from all over Slovakia.  Our school was competing in two categories. The first group (represented by 1. A class with Miss Adel in charge) had prepared a performance about the undersea world on the topic “We need to help each other”. The second one (represented by 7.A with Miss Peťa in charge) had prepared a spectacle about the universe and the importance of compassion on the topic “A human, the inventor”.  The team was really strong, enriched to encourage the school and parents 'leadership, even after 14 hours, at the absolute end of the Superclass winners' festival. Our school has occupied an unpopular "potato" placement, but to the joy and taste to work on this Euro project, it did not hurt the whole team - on the contrary, we went with a book full of book rewards, diplomas and a ring in the shape of a treble clef and of course with the promise: We will see again next year ... "As for the present media, Prof. Belo Felix, PhD said. - the authority in the field of musical pedagogy in Slovakia and abroad: "The Superclass project is a beautiful and robust answer, To all who likes the overwhelmed grave of musical education at elementary schools. Just a few loved ones who have a good idea, and it suddenly turns out that the kids are interested in the teachers' interest ... and the attitude of "I do not know it" turns into "what if I tried "until the" ah, but it goes! "

And how we got it and what a perfect BESSTteam we are you can see in the preview of TV Markíza's main TV shows, June 19, 2014 - Battle of the Superclass.
